[Codex bug] Stuck task from deleted project still running after 8+ days — cannot cancel

Bug Summary

A Codex task launched on July 3rd is still stuck in “in progress” mode on ChatGPT Web. The project ("DistributionAnalyzer") has since been deleted, but the task continues to show “Travail en cours sur votre tâche” and cannot be cancelled, paused, or removed.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Launch a Codex task
2. Delete the parent project while task is running
3. Observe: task remains permanently visible at top of Codex UI

What I tried

• Clearing cache, refreshing, trying from another device
• Waiting 72h+ (now 100+ hours)
• Support says it's a backend issue, but no escalation path exists
• Task still not cleared

Impact

• The interface is cluttered
• Confidence in Codex's stability is impacted
• This bug has been reported by others and deserves resolution

Please route this to the Codex product or engineering team. This is a persistent backend issue with no user workaround.
