carousel autoplay with no autoPlay property defined.

I have code where I do not set autoPlay. When the page loads the carousel remains on the 1st page. If I swipe to the 2nd page then return to the first, the carousel will start to auto advance.

Before I work up an example to report as a bug I'd like to know if this is a known or expected behavior.
