Cloud Functions UNAUTHORISED

I recently bumped firebase BOM from 32.8.1 to 33.16.0. Cloud functions stopped working and kept returning exception UNAUTHORISED.

I played around various BOM versions and found that the last working BOM for cloud function is 33.10.0. Bumping any further starts giving the error.

Hi @vhmvd, thank you for reaching out. I tried reproducing the issue, however, I did not encounter the Unauthenticated error.

As mentioned in the issue #6904, have you tried the troubleshooting steps shared here?

Hello, I will add more details. This is roughly the code piece that is called. The function is v1.

The cloud function is

On version bom version >= 33.11.0 I do not exactly get the mentioned issue in troubleshooting i.e.

HTTP 403: The request was not authenticated. Either allow unauthenticated invocations or set the proper Authorization header

Instead, we are getting this issue

Please note that this works fine on BOM 33.10.0.

These are the release notes for changes in functions between BOM 33.10.0 - 33.11.0.

It has no mention of such a change.

I tried the code snippet you shared in our Android quickstart app, but I still wasn't able to replicate the issue.

Could you provide an MCVE to help us investigate the issue? Or if it's too much work, I would suggest using our quickstart app and make the changes application. Thanks!

I'll try to make an MCVE for repro. By any chance, is it possible that this could be an issue for v1 functions only?

I can see this line in the quickstart app you mentioned
