Unable to start backend: "prestart" service didn't complete successfully

I'm encountering an error where the backend fails to start with the message: "prestart" service didn't complete successfully. The logs indicate an issue with the prestart.sh script. How can I resolve this?

I ran into the same issue. The fix for me was to use a simple password in the .env file (avoid special characters).

After updating the password, I also removed all existing Docker containers and images so the database could be re-initialized cleanly. Everything worked right away after that.

I had the same issue, after setting the "changethis" password variables in my .env. Looking at the logs for the prestart service, it seems there's a constraint on the str length allowed by pydantic in this case?:

Regardless, making sure the password(s) - in my case FIRST_SUPERUSER_PASSWORD - is <= 40 chars solved the problem for me.

Maybe this should be added to the docs?

The issue with password length will hopefully be resolved soon by this PR: #1447
