Include an option in the configuration to include IPs in the log file. This would make it easier to use fail2ban and others.

You didn't mention anything about usernames. Currently, I also use Fail2ban with Dendrite and have it set up to just watch my web server logs (Nginx) to ban IPs. I don't quite understand why'd you need a username if you're doing per-ip bans...
