Database connection issue

All of a sudden I am getting the error below constantly:

7/8/2025, 3:54:00 PM [ERROR] Error checking update status: Error: connect ECONNREFUSED 172.18.0.2:5432

No database settings have been changed and I don't recognise the IP address listed as it is not the IP of the local machine (where DB is present).

Please advise

The 172.18 ip is the internal docker network between the two containers. So it is sending to the right place.

Someone else just reported this on IPcamtalk and it seems that they were able to get it resolved. Here's the thread which links to another issue here on GitHub:

I'm not sure what caused this because I didn't change anything recently. I think the app needs more granular logging to help resolve these more easily because half the time I have no idea what the cause is either. I will address that in the coming update.

When I first built this, I didn't exactly expect a load of people to end up using it and to improve it so much, so I took a quick and easy design approach for managing the DB schema which was not the most principled. There's a much better way to do it that would avoid these issues, but now that people have systems running and data in their databases, it's much more involved to refactor it the proper way without users losing data.

I have something in mind that should work. I'd ideally like the whole schema + migrations files to get completely hidden away so people don't even have to think about them and have it just work.

It will get there. I just need to find the time to go back and make the db configuration more robust. The actual application has been pretty stable.
