New Tab file/project selection can get confused

Bug Description:
I can make the New Tab file/project picker select both a file and a project at the same time. Then, trying to press enter to open the selection or using the right-click menu can cause the wrong item to be acted upon.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Open a new tab
2. Have stuff in the recent files and recent projects list
3. Make sure to drag the panes so you can see both at the same time
4. Right click a file
5. Right click a project
6. Keep doing this until suddenly both are selected
7. Do one of the actions in the right click menu
8. Observe the action applies to the selected item in the other list

Expected Behavior:
I expected to only be able to select one thing at a time
