Feature description
this feature is a new settings toggle named
'enable "do not disturb" while recording'.
if toggled on, it enables the Android system's "do not disturb" setting while Fossify Voice Recorder is recording a new audio file.
to properly revert "do not disturb" after recording is finished or while recording is paused, Voice Recorder would store the initial "do not disturb" value (on or off) at moment of start recording or continue recording, and then revert "do not disturb" to the stored value when recording stopped or paused.
Why do you want this feature?
to keep sound and vibration of non-critical notifications from appearing in the recording, i would like to automatically enable "do not disturb" while the recording runs.
this would be the behavior when the proposed setting is toggled on. otherwise, all notification sound and vibration plays while recording, like now (in Fossify Voice Recorder version 1.3.1)
Additional information
1️⃣ as long as this feature request isn't implemented, i use a workaround to avoid disturbing my recording: in the "modes and routines" system settings on my Samsung Galaxy, i have created a "Voice Recorder" app routine which enables "do not disturb" while Fossify Voice Recorder runs.
this is a solution for me but it is janky:
- it may be exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices
- it cannot intelligently re‑disable "do not disturb" while Voice Recorder doesn't record a new file
- it re‑disables "do not disturb" while Voice Recorder isn't opened in the foreground, even while it records
implementing my proposal in Fossify Voice Recorder would solve this jank.
2️⃣ a related setting "enable silence while recording" would be nearly identical, only a bit more drastic: instead of "do not disturb", it toggles silence.
